Smoky Crystals

“Smoky quartz” covers the most common color varieties of quartz crystals. These crystals can be tan, gray, brown, black, root-beer, whiskey or champagne colors.

The color occurs when traces of aluminum in the silica are activated by x-rays from the ground and cosmic rays from outer space. The atomic matrix then twists slightly, resulting in the absorption of light instead of the complete transmission of light. Sometimes part of smoky crystals left in the sunlight for years, will revert to clear zones. Smoky quartz seems to have the most grounded of energies for healing work.
