Inventory # WK1650 Florida Agatized Coral Cluster

Description

Ancient beds of coral (calcium carbonate skeletons) petrified into agatized quartz.
The shapes of the corals are preserved, while all the material has been replaced by silica with traces of iron creating the color.
The yellow/orange quartz is translucent, and lights up with a beautiful glow from the back.
Prospectors hike down rivers and streams in Florida, breaking open the interesting stones to see if there is an agate geode inside.
