North Carolina Elestial |
||
| TYPE | North Carolina Smoky Quartz With Clay Inclusions | ||
| SIZE |
40 Pounds 18.2 Kilograms |
||
| DESCRIPTION | Here's one of the most rare of American crystals. It's from North Carolina , which produces spectacular smokies, but seldom of this size- over 40 pounds. It was unearthed in the 1970s by serendipity. The miner was digging a water well, and this wonderful museum piece showed up in the mud dislodging by the drilling bit. It actually popped out of the ground in a gush of water and mud. Intricate patterns grace the sides, which have multiple depth levels and indentations. This is perhaps the most complex type of crystal that the Earth produces. | ||
